The product group covers a wide range of stoves, such as pellet stoves, tiled stoves, wood stoves, fireplaces and wood burner inserts.

Nordic Swan Ecolabelled closed fireplaces are efficient and produce very low emissions of environmentally hazardous gases and dust. The chemicals used in manufacturing have been replaced with less environmental impact.

Below you will find all the necessary documents and background information to apply for the Nordic Swan Ecolabel.

  • Fees valid from 1 January 2024

    If the extension includes new fire chambers prices are the same as those applicable to amendments to an existing licence, however not less than 1 625 EUR + VAT per fire chamber

    Annual licence fee: The annual licence fee for the Nordic Swan Ecolabelled products is based on their turnover in the Nordic countries.

    		 0.3% of turnover + VAT from 0 – 30 million EUR 
    0.05% of turnover + VAT > 30 million EUR
    Minimum fee for Nordic region 2 167 EUR + VAT per year
    Maximum fee for Nordic region No maximum fee

    Fees for sale outside the Nordic region          
    (Only if revenue > 300 000 EUR per year)

    		 2 167 EUR + VAT per year

    If the Nordic Swan ecolabelled products are only sold outside the Nordic countries, a minimum fee is always charged.

    * When both the applicant and the manufacturer are micro-enterprises, the fee is reduced by 50%. A micro-enterprise is in this context defined as an enterprise with less than 10 employees and an annual turnover (of both ecolabelled and not ecolabelled products) below EUR 2 million.

    ** Where audits requires more than one day away from the office including travelling, Nordic Ecolabelling can invoice an additional fee of 1 083 € per extra day. Other extraordinary costs induced by the audit can also be invoiced the applicant.

    *** As for an extension of or amendments to a licence, time consumed in connection with the review process will be invoiced according to the extent of the required task. We make a distinction between entirely administrative tasks that last less than 1 hour, and all other tasks that last between 1 and 4 hours, between 4 and 8 hours and more than 8 hours.

    The recipient is liable for the VAT according to article 56 of the Council Directive 2006/112/EC.

  • 4.6 ⇛ 4.7: Prolongation of the validity of the criteria

    The validity of the criteria has been extended with 12 months. The new version is called 4.7 and is valid until 31 December 2026.

    The validity of the criteria has been extended with 12 months. The new version is called 4.6 and is valid until 31 December 2025.

    4.4 ⇛ 4.5: Prolongation of the validity of the criteria

    The validity of the criteria has been extended with 12 months. The new version, 4.5, is valid until 31 December 2024

    4.3 ⇛ 4.4: Prolongation of the validity of the criteria

    The validity of the criteria has been extended with 18 months. The new version, 4.4, is valid until 31 December 2023

    4.2 ⇛ 4.3: Prolongation of validity of the criteria

    The validity of the criteria has been extended with 20 months. The new version, 4.3, is valid until 30 June 2022

    4.1 ⇛ 4.2: Prolongation of validity of the criteria

    The validity of the criteria for Nordic Swan Ecolabelled stoves has been extended. Furthermore requirement O29 Take-back system has been removed.

    The new version, 4.2, is valid until October 31st 2020.

    4.0 ⇛ 4.1: Alteration of criteria

    • Requirements O18 and O19 have been adjusted regarding information on chimney height and the lighting method.
    • The requirement to emissions of particles in O14 Emissions to air was adjusted.
    • An exemption for the use of surface paint in spray cans regarding the VOC content in O6 was added.
    • Requirement R31 Marketing was removed.

    The new version, 4.1, is valid until June 30th 2019.

    4.0: New version of the criteria

    A new version, 4.0, of Nordic Ecolabel's criteria for stoves was published on June 11th. The new version contains significantly tightened requirements of emissions to air and effeciency. The requirements concerning the use of chemicals with hazard classifications in final production have also been tightened. Also, a new requirement has been added that Products used for surface paint/ -varnish must contain a maximum  (VOC 60%).
